Sab Curtis
For more than 20 years, Sab Curtis has found inspiration in the rugged landscapes of British Columbia’s Kootenay region, as well as in mountain ranges explored around the world. A lifelong passion for photography has provided a rich archive of reference material, informing a painting practice rooted in a deep appreciation and respect for the natural world.
Painting entered Curtis‘ life unexpectedly during recovery from a traumatic brain injury. In 2020, what began as a therapeutic outlet with a first brushstroke on canvas quickly evolved into a profound creative passion. An engineer by profession, Curtis has translated a lifelong aptitude for problem-solving into an artistic practice shaped by resilience and adaptation. Through this cognitive “rewiring,” analytical thinking has given way to the intuitive blending of colour, texture, and expressive brushwork, resulting in paintings that celebrate both the beauty of the landscape and the transformative power of creativity.
