Originally from the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of Québec, Marie-Christine Claveau developed an early appreciation for nature while growing up along the bay’s ever-changing tides. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with a minor in Visual Arts in 2001, she moved to British Columbia, where a life of exploration eventually led her to a small homestead on Traditional Tsimshian Territory between the Skeena and Nass Rivers.

Working primarily in acrylic, Claveau creates vibrant paintings inspired by British Columbia’s remarkable landscapes, flora, and fauna. Her work has been featured in numerous solo exhibitions across Canada, and she frequently collaborates with fellow artists. She is an Associate Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and an Elected Member of the Society of Canadian Artists. Her artist residencies, including a memorable stay at Khutzeymateen Wilderness Lodge, continue to inspire her deep connection to wild places. Her public artworks can be found at Furlong Bay Provincial Park and throughout downtown Terrace, British Columbia.
