About The Piece

Wood-firing clay is a traditional ceramic technique in which wood is the kiln’s only fuel source, allowing fire and ash to shape the final surface of the pottery. As the wood burns, natural minerals in the fly ash melt onto the clay at high temperatures, creating a natural glaze with rich textures and earthy tones.

The movement of flame through the kiln also leaves unique markings, known as “flashing,” resulting in organic patterns and color variations that make every wood-fired piece one of a kind.
