Stephen Plant | Gardom Lake, B.C.

Stephen Plant has been making functional pottery since 1970, creating durable, handmade pieces meant for everyday use. His work features rich glazes and hand-carved Celtic knot designs, shaped by decades of craftsmanship. Each piece is one of a kind, made to be both beautiful and long lasting.

Ariel Plant | Revelstoke, B.C.

Arielโ€™s love of creating ceramics started in the Fall of 2018 when she moved back home to the interior of British Columbia. She wanted to spend some time in her fatherโ€™s pottery studio with him and create her own pottery that had the phrase โ€œKeep Coolโ€ on them, a tongue in cheek nod to her time tree planting in Western Canada.

Jane Klarer-Lackey | Revelstoke, B.C.

Jane works with translucent porcelain and a technique commonly referred to as โ€œNerikomiโ€ which is a Japanese term for working with blended clays and/or coloured clays. Jane often uses a combination of hand built and wheel thrown parts when creating her pieces. Translucent porcelain allows light to penetrate the surface and reveal other gradient colours similar to the landscape as fog moves in and out of mountain valleys, fields and rivers.

Nancy Geismar | Revelstoke, B.C.

It’s a big, wide world and that’s where Nancy gets her inspiration from. It’s the fresh rain drops on a leaf, the sparkle of individual snowflakes, the texture of the western red cedar, the colours of the sunset and the magnificent transience of a cumulus cloud. Based in the mountains of the Columbia valley where wildlife and birds abound, nature as narrative is what Nancy hopes to convey through her pottery.

Susie Kathol | Revelstoke, B.C.

As a wildlife biologist and botanist Susie has always loved the subject material that she uses for her carvings. Susie uses the Sgraffito decoration technique, which involves painting and carving a 2-dimensional image on the surface of leather-hard (not entirely dry) clay. Susie currently balances work as a biologist, but continues to develop her ceramic art in tandem.
