About The Piece

‘Tally Ho’ is a piece by Jess Leahey created in 2025. Tally Ho is a reference to a fun powdery section of glades on Revelstoke Mountain Resort in the Winter season. Leahey captures the vivid forest glades where towering moss adorned trees dominate the snowy scene, their silhouette and texture conveying both strength and serenity. In this work, Leahey uses bold lines and layered washes of colour to render the trees as sentient beings, rooted yet reaching. Through this painting, Leahey invites the viewer to feel the pulse of the forest, to sense that the trees are not passive backdrops but active participants in the landscape and the sport.
