About The Piece

‘Somewhere Green’ is a piece by Jess Leahey created in 2024. Leahey captures the perfect Summer day of two people biking along the path with towering Mackenzie Peak and the Revelstoke Mountain Resort gondolas in the back. Mount Cartier, covered in snow still is visible to the right. Leahey’s signature bold colours, with bright yellow-green underpainting make this piece hum with joy.

‘This summery piece is me trying to really push a monochromatic colour palette, it’s all green. Pine, holiday, leaf, turquoise, phthalo turquoise, mint, sage ect…. Everything is a little green. I like how colours seem to take new shape beside new neighbours, in this the turquoise starts to look blue beside truer greens and the yellowgreens seem more yellow. The hard part is finding the right shades to have enough contrast but to also keep harmony within such a small spectrum.’
