“Something in the Wind” is a cast bronze sculpture by the Cathryn Jenkins as part of her ‘Waiting for Mama’ series. This bronze series depicts young grizzly bear cubs resting in a safe haven near the river, awaiting the time when they will learn to fish and establish their place along the riverbank. Each sculpture is cast in a signed and numbered limited edition of 50, with nine distinct designs in the series. Wanting to create works meant to be held, Cathryn modelled this series using only her hands and a toothpick rather than traditional sculpting tools. This intimate approach ensures each small bear fits naturally in the palm, inviting close viewing and a tactile connection.
