Emily Beaudoin
Canmore, Alberta
Emily Beaudoin is a watercolour and pen and ink artist, as well as a muralist, based in Canmore, Alberta. She has always felt an irresistible draw to the mountains, which evoke a sense of smallness, wonder, and aliveness. Whether hiking, skiing, biking, or paddling into the backcountry, Emily immerses herself in nature to paint her experiences. Through her artwork, she documents the peaks, plants, and animals she encounters, sharing her deep respect and love for these wild places. She believes she will never tire of this process or stop learning from her time spent in the outdoors.
Emily’s work features vibrant colour, texture, white space, and intricate line work, aiming to capture the sense of freedom, adventure, and energy she feels in the mountains. Her art reflects not only her connection to these places but also her admiration for their power, ruthlessness, beauty, and fragility. She hopes her paintings will transport viewers to the ridges, summits, and valleys she explores, allowing them to experience their own sense of connection and awe. Emily believes that people are more likely to protect wild places if they feel a personal bond with them, and if her art inspires even one person to venture into the wilderness, she’ll consider herself a happy camper.
