Rob Sim
Kaslo, British Columbia
Growing up in a small town on the Southern Alberta prairies, Sim’s interest in photography began in junior high. Armed with disposable Fuji film cameras, he would capture moments of his friends skateboarding, starting his photographic journey in an informal but personal way. His passion grew when his mother gave him her early 70s Pentax Spotmatic, a camera she used during her university years. From there, his skills and passion for photography blossomed.
Today, Sim hardly goes anywhere without a camera in hand. Photography has grown from a simple hobby into a dream job, and he is constantly seeking new ways to capture the world around him. Though the journey hasn’t always been easy, at the end of a long day of shooting, he smiles, knowing that he’s doing exactly what he loves. The ‘Effen Search’, for Robert Sim, is an ongoing adventure—both in his work and in his life.
